An image could be a spatial representation of an object, a two dimensional scene or another image. It is real or virtual. a picture could also be thought of as never-ending function defining usually an oblong region of a plane. Image is intensity image, range image’ within the sense of optic or photographic view and might be varying from different view.
Digital image representation:
An image could be through of as a function with resulting values of the sunshine intensity at each point over a planner region. These function must be sampled at discrete intervals. The sampling quantizes the intensity values into discrete level. Captured image formats:
The image format that comes out of a picture frame grabber is that the captured image format. This format is specified by two main parameters. Special resolution is specified as pixel X pixel and color encoding is specified by bits per pixel. These two parameters values rely on hardware and software for input and output of image.
Stored image format:
An image is stored during a two dimensional or 2D array of values. Each value represents within the image, for a small amount map these value are digit where as for color image it should be a set of: Three numbers representing the intensity of red, blue, and green components of color at the pixel. Three numbers that are indices to tables or red, green and blue intensity. A single numbers that's an index to a table of color triplets (RGB) Some current image file formats are: GIF (graphical interchange format), JPEG, TIFF (tagged image file format) etc.
