Questions
What is a communication? What are the three basic
elements of any
communication system?
Ans: Communication is the process of transferring
messages from one point
to another.
The three basic elements of any communication system
are
A sender, which creates the message to be
transmitted.
A medium, which carries the message.
A receiver, which receives the message.
2.
What is a telecommunications? Give an example.
Ans: Telecommunication is the transmission of data
and information between
computers using a communication link such as a
standard telephone
line. Computer communication across the Internet
is one of many
examples of telecommunication.
What is a data transmission? List the two forms of
data transmissions
across the network.
3.
b.
Ans: Data transmission is the process of sending
digital or analog data over a
or more computing, network,
communication medium to one
communication or electronic devices. Data
transmissions across the
network can occur in two forms i.e.:
Analog signal and
1.
ii. Digital signal.
What are the three ways of transmitting data from
one point to
another? Define each of them.
Ans: There are three ways of transmitting data
from one point to another.
Simplex Mode:
Simplex mode communication is a mode of
transmission in which data flows
in one direction only.
Half Duplex Mode:
Half duplex communication is a mode of
transmission in which data flows in
the both directions, but only in one direction at
a time.
Full Duplex Mode:
Full duplex communication is a mode of
transmission in which data is
transmitted in both the directions simultaneously
on the same channel.
5. What is bandwidth, and how is it measured?
Ans: Bandwidth is the difference between the
highest and lowest frequencies
of a transmission channel. The higher a medium's
bandwidth, the more
data it can transmit at any given time. As more
user's transmit data over
a network, however, the bandwidth decreases,
thereby slowing down all
transmissions. Bandwidth is measured in bits per
second.
